President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump strongly condemned North Korea's long-range ballistic missile launch on Wednesday and discussed joint response measures during a phone conversation.
Presidential spokesperson Park Soo-hyun said the two leaders held phone talks for about 20 minutes from 8:30 a.m.
Moon and Trump condemned the North for conducting the missile launch despite strong and united sanctions and pressure in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
The two leaders agreed to respond strongly and firmly against the North's provocations based on the solid bilateral defense posture. They also vowed to exert efforts to induce the North to come to the dialogue table by continuing sanctions and pressure in cooperation with the international community.
It was Moon and Trump's sixth phone call in 73 days, during which they also held summits in New York and Seoul. It was also the first time that the two leaders held phone talks on the day of the North's missile provocation.
