'S. Korea, China to Announce Start of Additional FTA Talks during Summit Talks'

South Korea and China will reportedly announce the start of additional free trade agreement(FTA) talks in mid-December, when President Moon Jae-in makes a state visit to China.

A diplomatic source in Beijing said on Monday that the two nations will make the announcement during summit talks between Moon and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Negotiations on the service and investment sectors were supposed to be initiated within two years of the implementation of the South Korea-China FTA in December 2015 but could not start due to resistance from China.

The diplomatic source said that the leaders of South Korea and China would announce the start of additional FTA talks as the two-year deadline for initiating the talks expires on December 20th.
