No Expansion of Pension Fund's Investment in KOSDAQ This Year

The Health and Welfare Ministry says the national pension and other state funds won't expand their investment in the nation's secondary bourse KOSDAQ, at least this year.

A ministry official said Saturday that the National Pension Fund Evaluation Committee will meet in November and December, but no agenda has been introduced regarding an adjustment in the pension fund's investment portfolio.

The official said that current investment plans will continue for the time being.

The committee is the highest decision making body related to all matters of the pension service's investments.

The pension fund's investment in domestic shares is heavily concentrated in the benchmark KOSPI at 98 percent compared to just two percent in KOSDAQ.

On Friday, KOSDAQ broke the 800 mark during intra-day trading for the first time in ten years.
