North Korea held a two-day national conference of social scientists in Pyongyang.
The North's state media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday that the third National Conference of Social Scientists took place at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang on Friday and Saturday.
The conference reportedly reviewed the successes and experiences gained in the field of social science after the last conference and discussed the tasks and ways to make a fresh turn in the development of social sciences.
The report said that a delegation of the Korean Social Scientists Association in Japan, followers of the North's governing philosophy Juche, or self-reliance, from various countries and other foreign guests were invited to the conference.
In the conference, Pak Kwang-ho, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the North's Workers' Party, read a letter sent by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in December 2012 to mark the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Academy of Social Science.
