Stock Markets to Delay Opening Thursday as Scheduled

South Korea's stock markets will open and close for trade one hour later on Thursday as scheduled.

The delay was to accommodate the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT), however, the government delayed the state-administered college entrance exam for one week due to a strong earthquake in Pohang City.

The Korea Exchange said on Wednesday that the markets, including the KOSPI and KOSDAQ, will open at 10 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, as previously announced.

The exchange said that it decided to stick to the delayed schedule because a sudden change could undermine the credibility of the financial market.

It added that the stock markets will also delay opening and closing an hour later next Thursday, when the postponed college entrance exam will take place.
