Universiade Village Opens

With just a week to go before the opening of the Universiade in Daegu, the athletes village has finally opened.

British and Mongolians were among the first group of some three hundred athletes and officials to enter the village on Thursday.

The ceremony opening the village was attended by some one thousand sports officials and dignitaries.

Meanwhile, authorities plan to designate no-fly zones over stadiums and post army troops to safeguard the upcoming world university games.

The summer Universiade is scheduled to open next Thursday for an 11-day run in the southeastern city with the participation of eleven thousand athletes and officials from a record 175 countries.
