N. Korea Calls for Reform of UNSC

North Korea has called for a sweeping reform of the United Nations Security Council, criticizing resolutions against the North adopted under the leadership of the United States.

The North's state-run daily Rodong Sinmun said on Sunday that the North's ambassador to the United Nations made the call during the 72nd regular session of the UN General Assembly.

The North Korean envoy reportedly criticized the United States for abusing the Security Council and condemning the North's self-defense measures to strengthen its nuclear force as threats to global peace and stability.

The envoy then called for full-fledged reforms of the Security Council that correspond to the changes of the times, saying that the Security Council should not be allowed any longer to adopt resolutions that justify a certain country's war scheme.
