S. Korea and Indonesia Sign MOUs Worth $1.9 Bln on Infrastructure

South Korea and Indonesia signed a one-point-nine billion dollar deal on traffic and infrastructure on Thursday.

Kim Hyun-mee, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and her Indonesian counterpart, Budi Karya Sumadi, signed five memorandums of understanding to build a comprehensive partnership over light rail transport, housing for working citizens and water resources.

This includes an MOU involving a two-stage project for the Korea Rail Network Authority to help address traffic congestion and air pollution in Jakarta.

Another major agreement worth some 230 million dollars is South Korean company Hanwha Engineering & Construction's participation in building housing for low-income families in Indonesia.
