No. of Nonregular Workers Surpasses 6.5 Mln

The number of nonregular workers in South Korea has surpassed six-point-five million.

According to recent employment data by Statistics Korea, six-million-542-thousand people were short-term contract workers, part-timers or subcontracted laborers as of August.

The figures marks an increase of 98-thousand from a year earlier. The portion of nonregular workers among all salary-earning workers inched up by a tenth of a percentage point to 32-point-nine percent.

People aged 60 and older accounted for the largest age bracket among the nonregular workers at over 20 percent, and also posted faster annual growth compared to other age groups at four-point-seven percent.
