S. Korea's Current Account Surplus Hits Record in September

South Korea's current account surplus hit a record high in September on strong exports. 
 
According to preliminary data by the Bank of Korea(BOK) on Friday, the country's current account surplus reached 12-point-21 billion U.S. dollars in September. 
 
The figure topped the previous record of 12-point-09 billion dollars tallied in June last year. It also represents a sharp increase from eight-point-07 billion dollars from a year earlier and six-point-06 billion dollars from a month earlier. 
 
The BOK said the goods account surplus widened to a record 15-point-01 billion dollars in September on strong chip exports.
 
The cumulative current account surplus for the first nine months of the year also hit a record 93-point-38 billion dollars.
 
As a result, the nation has again extended the already record long current account surplus to 67 straight months since March 2012.
