The Senate president of the Czech Republic visited a nuclear power plant in South Korea and highly assessed the safety of Korea-developed nuclear reactors.
The Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company said Thursday that Milan Štěch, president of the Czech Senate, visited its Saewul headquarters in Ulsan city on Wednesday.
He and his party looked around Shin Kori 3 and 4 reactors as well as the construction site of Shin Kori 5 and 6, whose construction was recently decided to resume.
Regarding the APR 1400 which is Korea's newest reactor model that's been applied to Shin Kori 3 to 6, the Senate chief said that he highly views the safety of Korean nuclear power plants and the country's plant building capabilities.
He expressed hope for Korean and Czech companies to expand the scope of their cooperation in the nuclear energy field.
The domestically developed Advanced Power Reactor 1400 model has been exported to the United Arab Emirates.
The Czech Republic currently operates six nuclear reactors and is seeking to build two more.
