S. Korea's Exports in October Grew 7.1%

South Korea's exports in October grew seven-point-one percent on-year.

The trade ministry on Wednesday said the amount of outbound shipments last month had come to 44-point-98 billion U.S. dollars.

While daily exports grew 33-point-nine percent on year, averaging two-point-five billion dollars, fewer working days caused overall monthly growth to slow down from the double-digit rates seen for nine consecutive months.

Among the 13 key export items, semiconductors, ships, steel and petrochemicals saw a surge in demand.

Imports grew seven-point-four percent on year to 37-point-65 billion dollars, bringing the trade surplus to seven-point-33 billion dollars.

It is the 69th straight month that South Korea has recorded a trade surplus.
