Chinese Media Report on Seoul-Beijing Agreement to Improve Ties

Chinese media have reported on the joint announcement by South Korea and China on Tuesday to defuse the dispute over Seoul's deployment of the U.S. THAAD antimissile system.

Following the announcement, state-run Xinhua news agency published the entire bilateral agreement unveiled by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

In breaking news, Xinhua said that South Korea has expressed that it recognizes China's concern over the THAAD deployment.

The report said that Seoul made it clear the missile shield will not target a third country or undermine China's strategic security interest.

The state-run China Central Television(CCTV) also reported on the bilateral agreement while the China News Service carried the entirety of the agreement, saying that Beijing has again declared its opposition to THAAD.

The Internet edition of China's English-language Global Times also said the two countries held discussions and agreed to swiftly return their exchanges back onto a normal track.
