South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a bilateral summit next week in Vietnam.

Nam Gwan-pyo, a director of the presidential National Security Office, said on Tuesday that Moon and Xi will hold summit talks on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Nam said that the summit will be the first step toward normalizing the countries' relations as they agreed to implement steps to quickly repair and improve bilateral cooperation and exchanges in every sector.

Nam also revealed that Seoul and Beijing are pursuing a meeting between Moon and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on the sidelines of the ASEAN Plus Three summit in the Philippines next month.

Moon and Xi had their first bilateral talks during the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany in July.
