Chinese Foreign Minister Hopes for Improvement in China-S. Korea Relations

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed hope for an improvement in bilateral relations between China and South Korea amid a prolonged diplomatic row over the U.S. THAAD antimissile system.

The Chinese top diplomat expressed the hope when he met with South Korea's Ambassador to China Noh Young-min at an international charity sale organized by China's Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

Diplomats and representatives from about 100 countries participated in the annual charity event held in Beijing.

A diplomatic source in Beijjing said Wang visited the South Korean booth to meet with the South Korean envoy for the first time, praising Noh's thoughts about friendly relations of their nations.

Wang also said that Noh will serve as a bridge for building friendly relations between Seoul and Beijing, expressing hope that bilateral relations will see improvement since Noh took office.
