Chinese Travel Agency Launches First Group Tour to Korea in 7 Months

A travel agency in the northern Chinese province of Hebei has begun offering a group tour to South Korea again -- the first seen in the country in seven months.

According to Yonhap News, an official with the travel agency confirmed the launch of the tour on Thursday, but asked not to be named citing anti-Korean sentiment stemming from Seoul's deployment of the U.S. THAAD antimissile system.

The group tour to South Korea in November went on sale on the Internet Tuesday.

The move has raised speculation that China may lift its unofficial travel embargo to South Korea over the THAAD dispute in the near future. Various travel agencies in Beijing and Shanghai had halted sales of group tours to Korea since March 15th this year.
