Reuters: Hyundai Joins Automaker Coalition Against Withdrawal from NAFTA

Major automakers, including South Korea's Hyundai Motor, have launched a coalition to convince U.S. President Donald Trump not to withdraw from the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA).

Reuters reported on Tuesday that auto trade associations representing major carmakers including General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen and Ford launched a coalition dubbed “Driving American Jobs.”

The coalition’s aim is to convince the White House and voters that NAFTA has been vital in boosting production and jobs in the automotive sector. It says ending the 23-year-old accord would hurt American jobs.

Trump has consistently threatened to end the agreement unless he can renegotiate a new deal with Canada and Mexico.
