The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) set a fresh record high for a second straight session on Tuesday. It edged up point-44 point, or point-02 percent, to close at two-thousand-490-point-49.

The gain was attributed to firm expectations for corporate earnings in South Korea. 

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also rose, surging eleven-point-35 points, or one-point-68 percent. It closed at 687-point-21. 

On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency strengthened two-point-eight won against the U.S. dollar, closing at one-thousand-127-point-four won.
