S. Korea Ranks 11th in Stock Market Cap

The combined market capitalization of the world's stock markets reached a record high of 88-point-59 trillion U.S. dollars on Thursday, up 35 percent from a year ago.

According to the data by Bloomberg, the combined market cap of South Korean firms listed on the main and secondary bourse came to one-point-57 trillion dollars, ranking eleventh among global peers.

South Korea's market cap has surged 25-point-one percent so far this year, the fifth-largest gain among countries that placed high in the rankings.

South Korea accounted for one-point-77 percent of the total market cap of the global markets.

The United States took up the largest 32 percent of the total, followed by China, Japan and Hong Kong.
