Exports This Month up 6.9% Despite Long Holiday

South Korea's exports continued to grow in October despite fewer business days in the month due to the long Chuseok holiday.

According to tentative data from the Korea Customs Service on Saturday, outbound shipments posted 26-point-seven billion dollars from October first to the 20th, up six-point-nine percent year-on-year.

Exports were anticipated to decrease because of the long Chuseok holiday from late last month to October ninth.

There were just ten business days during the first 20 days of this month, compared to 14-and-a-half days last year.

Daily average exports grew 55 percent to over two-point-six billion dollars this month.

With the overturned projection in overall export growth, shipments could continue their growth streak of 12 straight months.

Exports rose for the eleventh consecutive month in September, posting an all-time high monthly record of over 55 billion dollars.
