S. Korea: N. Korean Special Forces Practice Paragliding into S. Korea

The North Korean military is reportedly practicing paragliding as a means of infiltration into the headquarters of the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command in central Seoul.

Sources at the National Assembly’s National Defense Committee, Defense Ministry, and Joint Chiefs of Staff say paragliding was part of an exercise last month by North Korean special operations forces, who apparently practiced surprise infiltrations repeatedly for several days.

Paragliding permits easy maneuvering with light gear, and is one possible means of infiltrating denied areas.

This is the first time South Korea has detected such use of paragliding by North Korean forces.
