South Korea’s state-run nuclear operator said Monday that a nuclear reactor it designed has been approved to enter markets in Europe.
 
Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power(KHNP) said that the EU-APR design, which modified the APR 1400 to satisfy European safety criteria, was approved by the European Utility Requirements(EUR).

KHNP said the reactor will also be available to African countries such as Egypt and South Africa, which require EUR standards.

The APR 1400 design by KHNP was applied to nuclear reactors in Korea as well as a number of foreign countries including the United Arab Emirates.
