Cases of human rights violations by North Korea are up five-point-six percent from last year, according to a new annual report by the Database Center for North Korean Human Rights.

The 2017 White Paper released Monday says there were 68-thousand-940 human rights violations, all or most of them reported to be at the hands of North Korean authorities.

The Seoul-based non-governmental organization's volume says one thousand 709 perpetrators inflicted human rights violations on more than 35-thousand victims.

More than three thousand people are described as witnesses.

The North Korean human rights white paper has been issued annually since 2007.

The database center is planning a seminar on the North's human rights situation on Thursday of next week.
