Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon says the government will do its best to maintain consumer prices at a stable level ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
 
Kim gave the assurance during a visit to a traditional outdoor market in Eumseong in North Chungcheong Province on Monday, noting the livelihood of the public remains tough despite a gradual recovery of the economy backed by strong exports.
 
In a meeting with merchants at the market, Kim also said the government will strengthen its assistance to traditional markets, including improving their amenities and reducing safety accidents involving customers. He also called for for self-reform of retailers to enhance their own competitiveness.
