FTC to Toughen Regulations on Affiliates that Separated from Conglomerates

South Korea’s antitrust watchdog will strengthen regulations on affiliates that separated from large companies to ensure the owners will not gain profits through inter-affiliate deals after the separation.

The National Assembly said on Monday that the Fair Trade Commission(FTC) reported its plan to produce comprehensive regulations on the matter, accepting the criticism raised during last year's parliamentary audit and inspection.

The planned regulations are expected to require affiliates that separated from conglomerates to post a regulatory filing on their business deals with the conglomerates and its subsidiaries.
