POSCO Chief Vows WTO Action if US Issues Unfair Dumping Ruling

Steelmaker POSCO's CEO Kwon Oh-Joon said that if the U.S. government issues unfair anti-dumping rulings against Korean steel products, POSCO could bring the matter to the World Trade Organization(WTO).

Kwon made the remark during an interview held after a ceremony in the U.S. state of Indiana on Friday marking the completion of a POSCO wire rod processing plant.

He said his company will thoroughly prepare for the Department of Commerce's annual review procedure on anti-dumping duties on steel imports and will respond aggressively to normalize tariff rates.

He said that if an unfair ruling is issued, POSCO will cooperate with the Seoul government to seek a resolution through measures such as a lawsuit with the WTO.

The U.S. Department of Commerce begins its annual review procedure starting with cold rolled steel products from next month and hot rolled steel in November.
