Google Korea has launched a Korean language edition of Google Assistant, Google's voice recognition program based on artificial intelligence.
The Google Assistant Korean service is now available in LG Electronics' smartphone V30 and will gradually expand to other smartphones running on Andriod 6.0 or higher.
In South Korea, competition has already begun in the smartphone-based voice assistant technology market. Google Assistant will compete with Samsung Electronics' Bixby, Apple's Siri and Naver's Clova.
Making its global debut last year, Google Assistant answers users’ questions and searches for information through voice recognition and translations based on AI and machine-learning techniques.
Users are able to receive responses, manage schedules and enjoy entertainment services as well as phone calls and messaging.
The program can be activated by uttering "OK Google" or by pressing the home button.
The Korean service is the ninth language supported by Google Assistant.
