Korean Air Chief Grilled over Alleged Misappropriation

Korean Air and Hanjin Group Chairman Cho Yang-ho was grilled by police investigators for 16 hours on Tuesday over his alleged misappropriation of company funds for a home renovation.

It is the first time in ten years that a conglomerate chief appeared before police investigation.

The National Police Agency in Seoul on Tuesday summoned Cho as a suspect on possible charges of breach of trust and grilled him on how much he was involved in the illegal use of the company funds.

Cho is suspected of using three billion won of company money set aside for the construction of a hotel for the remodeling of his house in central Seoul between May 2013 and August 2014.

He reportedly denied all the allegations, saying he had no knowledge of the misappropriation.
