S. Korea's Semiconductor Exports to Hit $90 billion This Year

South Korean exports of semiconductors are projected to hit a record high this year, amid the so-called super cycle of memory chips characterized by high global demand and low supply.

The Korea International Trade Association says the country's outbound shipments of semiconductors recorded more than 59 billion dollars between January and August this year, an on-year jump of 52%.

The trade association says that if the current output levels keep steady at an average of eight billion dollars a month, Korea will enter the 90 billion dollar threshold before the year is up.

Semiconductors are set to take up 16 percent of South Korea's exports this year.
