The tollgate fees for electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell cars on expressways across the country will be halved beginning next week.

The Korea Expressway Corporation announced on Monday that beginning Monday of next week, the toll will be lowered as part of government efforts to encourage the use of environment-friendly cars and help tackle the fine dust problem.

Under the measure, some toll roads managed by local governments will also provide the same benefit for those eco-friendly cars.

A corporation official said the discount will be provided temporarily until 2020, and after that, a possible extension may be decided considering the number of eco-friendly cars on the roads.
