US Warns of Secondary Boycott if UNSC Fails to Pass New N. Korea Sanctions

Washington has indicated it will use a secondary boycott against North Korea if the U.N.’s current efforts to slap tougher sanction on the regime over its recent nuclear test fail.

Reuters reported that U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin gave the warning during a meeting with reporters aboard Air Force One heading to Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

Mnuchin said if the U.N. Security Council(UNSC) fails to adopt additional sanctions on the North, he will prepare an executive order that is ready to go to U.S. President Donald Trump. The order, he explained, will authorize sanctions on anybody doing trade with the North.

He said Trump will first give the U.N. time to act and then consider imposing the executive order at a proper time.
