Korea to Deliver 50,000 Tons of Rice to Developing Countries from 2018

South Korea will deliver 50-thousand tons of rice to developing countries in 2018 as part of its foreign aid initiative.

The Agriculture Ministry said Wednesday that Korea will complete its membership process to join the Food Assistance Convention(FAC) by the end of this year.

Through the convention, Korea plans to commit 46 billion won, or around 40 million dollars, worth of locally produced rice which will be distributed to countries in need through the UN's World Food Programme.

The FAC is currently composed of 14 member countries including Australia, Canada, the European Union and the United States.
