Gov't Wants 2017 Korea Sale FESTA to Provide Further Discount Rates

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said it held a meeting with businesses that will take part in the “2017 Korea Sale FESTA” on Tuesday and went over preparations for the nation’s largest tourism and shopping festival.

The ministry urged 16 companies that took part in Tuesday’s meeting to come up with a wide array of products that will be sold on sale and which would be popular among consumers. The ministry also called for expanded discount rates.

Given that the FESTA will coincide with the Chuseok holidays this year, the ministry plans to organize diverse attractions, including performances and regional festivals. This year’s event is expected to see the participation of more companies than last year when 341 businesses took part.

The Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and participating companies will unveil in the middle of this month overall plans for the event.
