Only three South Korean companies were estimated to be included among the top 500 companies in the world based on market capitalization.
 
According to the Korea Exchange on Monday, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and Hyundai Motor Company were found to be included among the world’s top 500 companies based on market capitalization as of August 30th.
 
That’s in contrast to the end of 2010, when eight South Korean companies were included within such top 500 firms. 
 
Out of the 500 companies, nearly 85 percent were firms of ten countries --- the U.S, China, Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, the Netherlands and Australia.
 
In particular, around 60 of the firms were American or Chinese.
