The Chinese factories of Hyundai Motor have resumed operations following a temporary production suspension stemming from a payment dispute with a supplier.
According to the South Korean automaker, all of its four factories in China resumed operations early Wednesday afternoon, after its component supplier resumed supply.
An official of Hyundai Motor said the company is continuously talking with the supplier about the overdue payment.
Attributing the protraction of the payment to the problems linked with the Seoul-Beijing conflict over the deployment of the U.S. THAAD antimissile system in South Korea, the official said Hyundai Motor will try to resolve the matter swiftly and smoothly.
Beijing Hyundai, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor and China’s BAIC Motor, ground its four factories to a halt gradually from last week to Tuesday, after the supplier refused to provide plastic fuel tanks when it did not receive payment.
