KDB to Provide Funds to Companies Hit by China's Retaliation against THAAD

The Korea Development Bank announced on Wednesday that it will provide a total of 550 billion won to companies that suffered losses due to China’s retaliatory measures in protest of the deployment of the THAAD antimissile system.

The bank will first allocate 500 billion won as exclusive funds for affected companies and use the funds to help firms move their places of business to another country, engage in mergers and acquisitions with other South Korean firms in China or convert their types of business.

The bank will use 50 billion won to help firms that are suffering from a temporary lack of liquidity.

To ease the debt repayment burdens of small firms, the bank plans to extend or change repayment plans for companies whose operating or equipment fund loans are set to mature this year.
