KOSPI Closes 0.23% Lower at 2,364.74

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) fell and the won weakened over news that North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan which landed in the sea early Tuesday morning.

The KOSPI retreated as low as two-thousand-332-point-85 during midday trading before ending down five-point-56 points, or point-23 percent, at two-thousand-364-point-74. 

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ rose, gaining one-point-04 points, or point-16 percent. It closed the day at 653-point-96. 

On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency weakened six-point-three won against the U.S. dollar, closing at one-thousand-126-point-four won.
