The number of people going abroad during this year’s Chuseok holidays has almost doubled from last year.
 
According to the travel industry on Monday, the number of people who booked overseas trips through the travel agency Hana Tour for the Chuseok holidays from September 30th to October 9th reached 77-thousand, up 97 percent from last year's Chuseok holidays.
 
With the longer period of holidays, reservations for trips to Europe and the Americas sharply increased. However, trips to China took up only 16 percent of all overseas trips this year, down from 29 percent last year, reflecting the strained relationship with Beijing over the deployment of the U.S. THAAD antimissile system.
 
The number of people who booked overseas trips through Mode Tour during the cited period came to 27-thousand, up 37 percent from a year ago.
