N. Korea to Host Air Show to Attract International Tourists

North Korea is inviting international tourists to come see an air show it's planning for next month.

An announcement of the 2017 International Friendship Air Festival to be held in the eastern coastal city of Wonsan appeared on the North's state-run tourism agency's Web site Thursday.

The two-day show promises to showcase aerobatic flying performances involving several kinds of  MiG fighter jets, as well as helicopters and a fleet of the country’s Air Koryo airline.

It's scheduled to start September 23rd, and is widely seen as a way for the cash-strapped country to earn some revenue in the face of strengthened international sanctions.
