Beer Tops List of Alcohol Imports

Beer topped the list of South Korea’s alcohol imports for the first time, surpassing wine and hard liquor.

According to the Korea International Trade Association(KITA) on Tuesday, the country’s imports of beer reached 144 million U.S. dollars in the first seven months of the year, up 50-point-five percent year-on-year.

Imports of wine, which ranked first in 2015 and 2016, increased four-point-six percent during the cited period.

Imports of whisky, which makes up the majority of imported hard liquor in the country, decreased 14-point-eight percent on year and ranked third.

Japanese beer accounted for the largest share of imported beer, followed by Chinese and German beer.
