North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho will reportedly attend the 72nd UN General Assembly set to open on September 12th in NewYork.
 
According to a source at the UN, North Korea recently gave notice that Ri would attend and offered for him to give a keynote speech during a general debate session, which is scheduled from September 19th to 25th.
 
A heated diplomatic contest is expected during the session as it comes amid heightened tensions between North Korea and the U.S. following the North’s ballistic missile launches and U.S. President Donald Trump’s strong rhetoric against the regime.
 
South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will also attend the UN General Assembly and Trump is expected to attend as the president of the host country.
