The government has decided to set up a committee on strengthening connectivity with Eurasian countries in the areas of transportation, logistics and energy.
The Finance Ministry said the government reached the decision during a Cabinet meeting on Monday.
The ministry said that the committee, dubbed the “Northern Region Economic Cooperation Committee,” will be established under the control of the president.
The committee will devise basic directions and mid-and long-term plans aimed at boosting connectivity with Eurasian countries while reviewing ways to implement their plans with other government agencies.
The committee will consist of up to 25 private experts and five government officials, including the ministers of finance, foreign affairs, unification and industry as well as the president’s special adviser for economic affairs. It will be headed by a private expert appointed by the president.
