S. Korea's Producer Price Up 0.1% in July

South Korea’s producer prices posted growth for the first time in five months in July.

According to the Bank of Korea on Monday, the producer price index reached 101-point-84 last month, up one tenth of a percent from a month earlier.

The index turned up after dropping for four straight months due to falling oil prices.

The rise was led by a hike in the prices of farm products, which surged eight-point-four percent.

Prices of lettuce, spinach, cucumber and Chinese cabbage doubled or tripled last month from the previous month.

The overall index of agricultural and fishery products rose one-point-five percent, while service prices also increased point-two percent in July.

The price index that measures price changes in each stage of production decreased by point-two percent to 96-point-84 last month, falling for the fourth consecutive month.
