South Korean workers earned approximately 34 million won, or 29-thousand-800 U.S. dollars, last year on average.
This is according to the Korea Economic Research Institute(KERI) which on Wednesday announced the result of its analysis of 15-point-44 million employees in the nation based on data from the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The analysis showed that employees received 33-point-87 million won last year on average, up by about one million won, or three-point-three percent. from 2015.
The median annual salary stood at 26-point-23 million won, while the top ten percent bracket earned about 66 million won or more last year.
A huge income gap was observed according to the size of the companies, with regular workers at large companies receiving 65-point-21 million won last year, over 30 million won more than their counterparts at small and mid-sized enterprises.
