Mass Rally Held in Pyongyang to Protest International Sanctions

A large-sized progovernment rally has been held in Pyongyang, as North Korea is seeking to enhance internal unity against the strengthening of international sanctions on the regime.

The state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported on Thursday that around 100-thousand Pyongyang citizens attended the rally held at Kim Il Sung Square on Wednesday to express their support for the North Korean government’s statement earlier in the week.

The newspaper spared the first four pages of the day to cover the event along with around 30 photos.

On Monday, Pyongyang issued a statement denouncing the fresh UN Security Council sanctions as a violent encroachment on its national sovereignty and rejected them outright while also threatening to retaliate against the U.S. “hundreds of thousands of times.”
