JCS Warns against N. Korea’s Provocative Threats

The Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) has warned that North Korea will be faced with retaliation by South Korea and the U.S if it makes provocations.

The JCS delivered the warning on Thursday in response to the recent series of confrontational rhetoric from the North, which it called a serious challenge to the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

Earlier this week, Pyongyang threatened to turn Seoul into a sea of fire and launch a preemptive retaliatory operation to strike Guam's surrounding areas with its ballistic missiles.

The JCS added that the South Korean military is fully prepared to immediately and sternly counter any provocations made by the North, based on its alliance and solid joint defense readiness with the U.S.

North Korea claimed on Wednesday that it is reviewing military options to fire four of its Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missiles to hit areas surrounding the U.S. territory of Guam.
