S. Korea Conducts Live-Fire Drill in Yellow Sea

The South Korean military has conducted a live-fire drill in the Yellow Sea to stay ready to defend five frontline islands.

A military official said the Northwestern Islands Defense Command conducted the regular exercise in South Korean waters below the inter-Korean maritime border Northern Limit Line(NLL) on Monday afternoon.

During the drill, the Marine’s Sixth Brigade in Baengnyeong Island and a unit stationed in Yeonpyeong Island fired 200 artillery rounds from K-9 self-propelled howitzers and Vulcan canons using Cobra helicopters.

The military also said it launched a Spike surface-to-surface missile that precisely hit its target.
