N. Korea Rejects UNSC Sanctions, Threatens US

North Korea has condemned new U.S.-led international sanctions and threatened to retaliate against the U.S. “hundreds or thousands of times.”

According to the North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA), Pyongyang issued a statement on Monday, saying it denounces the fresh UN Security Council(UNSC) sanctions as a violent encroachment on its national sovereignty and rejects them outright.

The North also said it will not backtrack from its nuclear development program, adding what it calls “self-defensive nuclear deterrence” will never be a subject of negotiation “as long as the U.S. continues its hostile policies and threatens it with nuclear weapons.”

The UNSC on Saturday unanimously adopted Resolution 2371 in response to the regime’s recent intercontinental ballistic missile tests, slashing the North’s annual export revenue by a third.
