South Korea’s Samsung Electronics beat U.S. Apple in the North American smartphone market in the second quarter, retaking the top spot.
According to the data by industry tracker Strategy Analytics on Thursday, Samsung took up 33-point-three percent of the North American smartphone market, shipping 14 million units in the April-June period.
That represents an increase of eight-point-four percentage points from the previous quarter and a rise of three-point-six percentage points from the previous year.
It marks the first time that Samsung topped the 30 percent mark in the market share in the region since the second quarter in 2014. Samsung took the top place in the market for the first time since the second quarter last year.
Apple sold ten-point-one million units and took up 24 percent of the market, down eight-point-seven percentage points on-quarter.
LG Electronics sold seven-point-two million units in North America and ranked third with a market share of 17-point-one percent.
