The number of people who subscribed to Internet of Things(IoT) services in the nation has topped six million.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on Tuesday, the number of IoT subscribers surged by around 90-thousand from May to stand at a little over six million in June, accounting for nine-point-eight percent of total wireless communication service subscribers.
Remote monitoring, control and meter-reading systems were the most popular IoT-based devices, followed by vehicle control and wearable devices.
The number of IoT subscribers grew from some three-and-a-half million at the end of 2014 to nearly four-point-three million at the end of 2015. In 2016, the figure surged by one-point-one million to stand at nearly five-point-four million.
IoT devices are able to exchange data with each other via the Internet for improved efficiency and convenience.
